Hazard Predictions

Acidic salts may initiate the exothermic Beckmann rearrangement of oximes, accompanied by potentially catastrophic gas evolution. Oximes can hydrolyze under acidic conditions, releasing aldehydes or ketones (Bretherick, L. 1996. Bretherick's Handbook of Reactive Chemical Hazards. Fifth Ed. Urben, P.G., Ed. Butterworth-Heinemann, Boston, MA. Vol 1, p. 569; Vol. 2, p. 278).

Oximes can be reduced to imines by TiCl3 (Kammermeier, B. 2000. Reduction. Ullmann's Encyclopedia of Industrial Chemistry. (Online)).
